Gnawholes, pt. 1

I spend some time this weekend designing and building my own gnawholes for my Skaven army.  I took plenty of inspiration from the actual GW pieces, but I also put my own spin on them.  They are made from EPS foam that I cut and sculpted with my new hot wire cutter (check the links to the right to pick up your own).  I've gotten them sealed and sprayed, so now it is time to get on to painting the stone, pouring the resin, and coloring that beautiful, beautiful warp glow.  I'll have a video or two going up on YouTube detailing the construction and painting processes once I have time to do some editing.

Back in the Saddle

After entirely too long away, I am jumping back into YouTube videos and updating the blog.  After finishing a big Daughters of Khaine commission for the Nova Open, I took a bit of a break.  But 2019 gave me a reason to get back on the horse.  I've started streaming over at twitch.tv/brokenbrushgaming Mon, Wed, and Thurs at 8PM EST.  Stop in, say hi, and watch me work on projects and talk tabletop gaming.

I am starting two new series on YouTube in the next couple of weeks.  One will replace Terrain on Tuesday, but never fear, it will still be terrain based.  Age of Sigmar has woefully little terrain available from Games Workshop, so I will be doing a hobby vlog as I create my own castle/fantasy cityscape similar to the Sector Imperialis terrain from Warhammer 40,000.  I'll be using all kinds of techniques and tools, so tune to see how it all goes and get some inspiration.  These vlogs will probably be posted on, you guessed it, Tuesday.

The second series will be a dive into the miniatures explosion happening in "normal" board games.  Many board games are eschewing the beloved meeple in favor of actual 28mm-ish minis, and some are quite eye-catching.  Called Paint & Play, the series will focus several videos on painting the miniatures in the box, a video explaining gameplay, and a final video of me and some friends sitting around, enjoying cocktails, and playing the game with the painted minis.  I'm really excited for this series because I'll get to grab some board games I've been really interested in for a while now.

So, that is the state of the broken brush.  It feels good to be back making videos, painting minis, and being creative.  Stay tuned here for updates, YouTube posts, and more of these actual word-blogs.

And here are some minis I finished recently.  Orks are the best...especially in berets.

A quick little tutorial on how to make bridges and gantries for sci-fi or industrial terrain.
